Below is my list of games that were memorable during 2013...
BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS More of the same? Well yes, but more of the same greatness again. Hope the franchise continues back in the main timeline once again (oh, and with Justice League cameos too). For the first time also, the console, mobile, and Vita games were all of high quality and played to each platform's strengths. |
NEW SUPER LUIGI 2 & RAYMAN LEGENDS Why link these two together? Well... both games are very similar. Both were entirely addictive whilst playing them, both had issues of random difficulty spikes occasionally, and both had flashes of absolute genius and delight. If you had to decide between the two then I'd probably go for Rayman Legends - it looks absolutely gorgeous, has some neat second-screen features, and the music-based stages are a joy. |
Err, Andy, what about Bioshock Infinite or Metro: Last Light, or Fire Emblem or Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.
Well you're absolutely right, those games are great too. And similarly there are some like Super Mario 3D World and Device 6 that I just haven't got around to unfortunately, and some like Tekken Tag Tournament 2 that technically came out last year but I still keep playing to this day. Either way though, 2013 has proven that there's been no slowdown in the number of great games being released regardless of the anticipation around the release of the next-generation consoles, and that mobile and indie games continue to innovate with both beautiful art styles and unique gameplay.
Roll on gaming in 2014!
